Course Description

This 12-week course teaches mobile phone repair from the tools and components up to the motherboard. You learn the parts of a phone and what each does, repair displays, batteries, charging ports and other components, identify SMD components and the main ICs on a phone motherboard, and practise soldering, desoldering and basic board-level repair. It also covers fault diagnosis with a multimeter, software repair including flashing firmware, and advanced troubleshooting such as network faults and water-damaged phones. Theory is combined with practical work throughout, and in week 12 you are assessed on full repairs: diagnosing a faulty phone, finding the defective component, replacing it, repairing charging faults, troubleshooting software, then reassembling, testing and documenting the repair. You finish with an IMT Computers certificate of completion.
