Why Learn SEO With IMT Computers: Results We Have Achieved

We do SEO on our own websites, with our students involved, and the course teaches the same steps: keyword research, one page for each search, internal links, technical checks and measuring what changed. These are searches where our websites show up in Google. Run any of them yourself.

Course Curriculum

12 modules

  • How search engines discover, crawl, index and rank pages; organic results versus paid ads
  • Search intent, query types, search result features, topical relevance and user experience
  • Setting up or reviewing Search Console and analytics; reading indexing, traffic and conversion data
  • Practical: choose the project website, record baseline metrics, identify business goals and define the first target queries
  • Deliverable: project brief and baseline report
  • Seed keywords, long-tail queries, question keywords, local modifiers and commercial intent
  • Judging relevance, intent, difficulty, business value and realistic opportunity, not search volume alone
  • Analysing competing pages: content depth, page type, headings, internal links, trust signals and gaps
  • AI workflow: cluster keyword lists and summarise competitor patterns, then check the suggestions against real search results and tools
  • Deliverable: prioritised keyword map and competitor-gap sheet
  • Building a logical hierarchy of services, categories, location pages and supporting content
  • Mapping one primary intent to each important page to reduce cannibalisation
  • Internal-link hubs, contextual links, descriptive anchors, crawl paths and orphan-page checks
  • AI workflow: ask for candidate internal links from a URL inventory you supply, then verify relevance, destination and anchor text by hand
  • Deliverable: site map, URL-to-keyword map and internal-link action list
  • Titles, meta descriptions, H1 and H2 structure, URL slugs, image alt text, descriptive filenames and page context
  • Writing for people first: a clear value proposition, specific evidence, original details, helpful FAQs and strong calls to action
  • Content refreshes, duplicate and thin content, cannibalisation and page-level quality checks
  • AI workflow: create briefs, improve clarity, generate outline options and edit copy, then fact-check it and add original experience
  • Deliverable: optimise a small set of priority pages and document every change
  • Crawlability, indexability, robots.txt, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, redirects and status codes
  • Duplicate URLs, pagination where relevant, noindex use, JavaScript rendering basics and internal-link discovery
  • HTTPS, mobile usability, Core Web Vitals concepts, page speed and image optimisation
  • AI workflow: classify exported crawl issues by impact and effort, and confirm every issue in the source data before acting
  • Deliverable: prioritised technical audit with evidence, severity, fix and validation method
  • Pillar pages and supporting pages, topic coverage, information gain and content refresh decisions
  • Content briefs based on intent, audience questions, evidence and clear next steps
  • Avoiding mass-produced, repetitive or unhelpful AI content: expert review, original examples and sources
  • Structured outlines and editorial checklists for accuracy, tone and consistency
  • Deliverable: one substantial content asset or a documented refresh plan
  • How links support discovery and authority; relevance and quality over raw link counts
  • Ethical link earning through useful resources, partnerships, PR, case studies and relevant business listings
  • Recognising paid-link schemes, spam tactics and low-value directory campaigns
  • Trust signals: clear authorship, business details, references, real project evidence, policies and transparent claims
  • Deliverable: link-earning plan and trust and evidence improvements for key pages
  • Google Business Profile fundamentals, consistent name, address and phone details, reviews, local landing pages and service-area relevance
  • Avoiding doorway pages and thin location pages: each page serves a distinct local need
  • Ecommerce category and product architecture, product copy, variants, faceted navigation and indexation controls
  • Reviewing structured data and visible product and business information for accuracy; markup does not guarantee rich results
  • Deliverable: local or ecommerce checklist applied to the project where relevant
  • Question-led searches, featured snippets, knowledge panels and direct-answer experiences
  • Answering the real question early, then giving context, evidence, examples and next steps
  • Descriptive headings, concise definitions, and lists and tables where they help
  • Writing FAQs only when they genuinely help readers, not to target search features
  • Deliverable: improve one page for answer clarity and question coverage
  • How GEO differs from traditional SEO: improving the likelihood that content is understood, trusted and referenced in generative search experiences
  • Making key facts clear, consistent and easy to verify, with original insights, first-hand examples, sources and transparent authorship
  • Keeping important information in crawlable, visible text, supported by sensible site architecture and internal links
  • Measuring referral traffic, branded search, query visibility and observed citations carefully: AI answers vary and cannot be fully measured
  • Deliverable: GEO review of key pages and an evidence-backed improvement plan
  • Using AI for audit triage, keyword clustering, intent mapping, content briefs, copy editing, schema validation, internal links, competitor summaries and reporting
  • Prompting with constraints: supply real URLs and data, define the task, ask for evidence and uncertainty, and forbid invented facts or URLs
  • Validating AI output against crawl exports, source pages, search results, analytics and technical documentation
  • Using AI to speed up work, not to publish bulk low-value pages, fabricate expertise, create fake reviews or make unsupported ranking claims
  • Deliverable: a reusable AI-assisted SEO workflow with a human quality-check list
  • Comparing baseline and current performance: clicks, impressions, average position, conversions, indexed pages and technical health
  • Separating completed work from observed outcomes; allowing for seasonality, algorithm changes and reporting delays
  • Identifying the pages and queries that improved, stalled or declined, and planning the next 90 days
  • Presenting a case study with screenshots, dates, changes made, measurable outcomes, limitations and lessons learned
  • Deliverable: final audit, performance report and practical case-study presentation

Requirements

  • A website you have permission to change: your own, your employer’s or a client’s

  • Willingness to keep a change log: what you changed, why, and what happened afterwards

Course Description

This 12-week course teaches SEO by doing the work. You choose one website you have permission to change and improve it from week 1 to week 12, so every lesson becomes part of a real SEO project instead of an isolated exercise. You cover how search works, keyword and competitor research, site structure and internal linking, on-page SEO and copywriting, technical SEO, content strategy, off-page SEO and trust, local and ecommerce SEO, and then answer engine optimisation (AEO), generative engine optimisation (GEO) and AI-assisted workflows. AI tools are used as assistants for research, audits, content briefs, internal-link suggestions and analysis, not as a substitute for judgement. You learn to give an AI tool real data, ask for evidence and uncertainty, and verify every recommendation before you act on it. Progress is measured against a baseline recorded in week 1, using tools such as Google Search Console, analytics, a crawler and rank tracking where available. The course ends with a before-and-after case study and a roadmap for the next 90 days. Page-one rankings are a target, not a guarantee. Results depend on the website’s history, competition, authority, technical condition, content quality, resources and implementation, and rankings can take longer than three months to change. No course can promise first-page placement, and this one does not. A strong final project still shows practical skill through the quality of the audit, the work done, how you measured it and a clear plan for what comes next.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the SEO course?

The course runs for 12 weeks (3 months). It combines lessons, live demonstrations, assignments and hands-on work on one real website, with a deliverable at the end of every week.

Why learn SEO with IMT Computers?

We do SEO on our own websites and teach the same steps. On 14 October 2026, on Google Nigeria, with personalised results switched off, imtcomputer.net showed in Google for "fiber optics training center in lagos" (first web result), "foa certification center in lagos" (first web result) and "siwes training for computer science student in lagos" (first web result), and our website WebsiteDeveloper.tech showed in Google for "website developer in lagos" (first web result) and "website developer in nigeria" (on page one: third web result). Students were involved in these rankings: our last cohort on WebsiteDeveloper.tech and another cohort on imtcomputer.net. Google's AI Overview for "website developer in nigeria" listed WebsiteDeveloper.tech first under "Top Website Developers & Agencies in Nigeria" (seen 14 October 2026) and Google's AI Overview for "top fiber optics training center in lagos" named IMT Computers as the top-rated fiber optics training center in Lagos and listed it first under "Top Fiber Optics Training Centers in Lagos" (seen 14 October 2026); AI answers differ from person to person and change from day to day. Rankings change with location, device and time, and these are our results, not a promise for your website: the course teaches the method and measures your progress, and no course can guarantee page one.

What is the difference between SEO, GEO and AEO?

SEO (search engine optimisation) is improving a website so search engines can crawl it, understand it and show it for the searches it should answer. AEO (answer engine optimisation) is making a page answer a question clearly and early, so it suits featured snippets and direct-answer results. GEO (generative engine optimisation) is making key facts clear, consistent and verifiable so that content is more likely to be understood and referenced in AI-generated answers. The course teaches all three as practical approaches, not as guaranteed ways to be featured.

Will my website rank on page one after the course?

Page one is a target, not a promise. Results depend on the website’s history, competition, authority, technical condition, content quality and how much of the work is implemented, and rankings can take longer than three months to change. What the course gives you is a measured baseline, real improvements to a live website and a before-and-after case study, so you can show what you did and what happened.

Do I need my own website for the SEO course?

You need one website you are allowed to change, because the whole course is one SEO project on that site: your own, your employer’s or a client’s. Ideally it represents a real business, service, online store or useful information resource. Have it in mind before you register, and ask admissions if you are unsure whether yours suits the course.

How is AI used in the SEO course?

As an assistant, not a replacement for judgement. You use AI tools for research, audit triage, keyword clustering, content briefs, copy editing and reporting, give them real data, ask for evidence and uncertainty, and check every answer against the source before you act. You do not use AI to publish bulk low-value pages, invent expertise, write fake reviews or make ranking claims you cannot support.

Which tools do I need for the SEO course?

Google Search Console, Google Analytics or an equivalent, a crawler such as Screaming Frog or Sitebulb, PageSpeed Insights or Lighthouse, Google Trends, keyword research tools, a spreadsheet and an AI assistant. Some tools need a paid subscription, and free equivalents can be used where they suit.

What will I have at the end of the course?

A project brief and baseline report, a keyword map, an internal-link plan, optimised priority pages, a technical audit, a content asset or refresh plan, a link-earning plan, a GEO review, a reusable AI-assisted workflow with a quality-check list, and a final case study presentation. You also receive an IMT Computers certificate of completion.

Do I get a certificate for the SEO course, and will I get help with LinkedIn?

Yes. Your SEO, GEO, AEO & AI Training certificate carries a QR code and a Certificate ID, and an employer or client can scan the code, or enter the ID on our Verify a Certificate page, to confirm that IMT Computers issued it. It also has its own web link you can send, and it does not expire. After the training, your lecturer helps you create your LinkedIn account if you do not have one and add the certificate to your profile, so recruiters can see it next to the case study of your own website.
