Our current SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) cohort kicked off on Thursday, August 13, 2026, with a student placed on our Front-End Development track for an estimated three-month placement running through mid-November 2026. Real Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and IT students train hands-on under professional mentorship at our Ikeja, Lagos facility — this page documents the placement as it happens, updated week by week.
Beyond writing code, the placement builds the practical habits professional developers rely on daily: version control with Git and GitHub, and search engine optimization fundamentals — skills many bootcamps and training centers skip entirely.

Week 1: Dev Environment, Git, GitHub & SEO Optimization
The placement began with setting up a professional development environment — installing VS Code, Git, and essential extensions — before learning to create a repository and push code to GitHub. The week also covered on-page SEO fundamentals: how search rankings work, internal linking, meta titles and descriptions, sitemaps, robots.txt, and using blog content to rank a website on Google.

Week 2: HTML Fundamentals & First Project
Week two moved into HTML in depth — HTML editors, basic syntax, elements, attributes, headings, paragraphs, styles, formatting, comments, colors, links, images, and tables — alongside an introduction to combining HTML with CSS. The week wrapped with a hands-on project covering a custom favicon and page title.

SIWES/IT students pay half price for the web development course they are placed on: ₦75,000 for Front-End Development (3 months, this cohort), ₦150,000 for Back-End Development (3 months) or ₦225,000 for the Full-Stack Bootcamp (6 months). The placement itself does not pay a stipend.
